The Birth of a High School At Clark High School, we help students recognize the way they learn best and then tailor a program to that learning style. Self-awareness and organizational skills are among our strongest gift to students. The Clark School curriculum is free from the rigid parameters of the Massachusetts Educational Frameworks and the MCAS exams. Our curriculum exceeds the demands presented by the most prestigious secondary schools and colleges.
Identifying and solving problems Organizational skills High School students are entrusted with a high degree of responsibility for their homework and other assignments. We emphasize time management and long-term planning skills. Students are required to use a laptop computer and respond to electronic scheduling reminders from the school office. All students maintain a daily assignment book. Personal growth We emphasize personal awareness and personal responsibility as members of a global community. Students are encouraged to accept responsibility for their errors and to work toward solutions. Leadership Because they share a campus with children as young as 5, High School students have wonderful leadership opportunities. They are reading buddies and role models. Making mistakes At Clark School we put a particular emphasis on the fact that personal growth comes from making and acknowledging mistakes. Acceptance Students are encouraged to be perceptive to the nuances of their peers and to relish differences among themselves, their teachers and their classmates. Individual attention High School students have the opportunity to learn in classes that rarely exceed a five-to-one student-teacher ratio. They work in tandem with their teachers to create a challenging and inspiring curriculum. By allowing our students to work at their individual skill levels, they readily excel in their "strong" subjects and grow and develop new skills in the challenging areas. |
